CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Matt Connolly Motorsports - InTurns

A story of what it takes to follow your dreams in the world of amateur endurance racing.

Creative Brief

  • This project was a spec/pilot shoot spanning several months, designed to develop a potential TV show that is still in the works. The goal was to showcase the high-energy world of amateur endurance racing while documenting the experiences of emerging drivers.

  • One of the biggest challenges was turning real-time racing events into a structured, engaging narrative fit for television. With only two crew members covering the action, capturing crucial moments—like crashes, driver interactions, and intense decision-making—required adaptability and quick thinking. Keeping key personalities mic’d up at all times ensured no pivotal moments were lost.

  • The production focused on maintaining an authentic, immersive feel. By keeping drivers and crew members mic’d up throughout, the team was able to capture the raw energy and drama of endurance racing. The film crew aimed to blend in while still documenting the excitement and behind-the-scenes struggles of the sport.

  • The shoot utilized high-end cinema cameras to ensure professional-quality footage. A dedicated audio setup was in place for clear, real-time dialogue, while minimal lighting was used for sit-down interviews, keeping the production polished without feeling overproduced.

  • As of now, the footage has been featured on the team’s website and social media platforms. The long-term goal is to refine the content and secure distribution through a streaming service.

  • Beyond storytelling, the video serves as a valuable tool for Matt Connolly Motorsports. It highlights their internship program, designed to help aspiring drivers break into the sport. By showcasing the challenges and opportunities in endurance racing, the project reinforces the team’s mission to support and develop new talent in the industry.
